Or they refer to the crime as pedophilia, as though there was no sexual preference for male victims. Most of the abuse should be called pederasty -- homosexual activity between adult males and boys. In the Catholic sex abuse scandal, according to the John Jay Report, 81% of the victims were male, and 78% of victims were between 11 and 17, with abuse peaking with 12 year old victims.
Pederasts/homosexual abuse of young boys and men is certainly not a new problem for the Catholic church. Read St. Peter Damian’s Book of Gomorrah (written in the thirteenth century).
