One of the speakers slated for the Vatican rollout of the long-awaited Papal document on climate change once said the earth is overpopulated by at least 6 billion people.
The teaching document, called an encyclical, is scheduled for release on June 18 at Vatican City. Perhaps with the exception of the 1968 encyclical on contraception, no Vatican document has been greeted with such anticipation.

As a Catholic, I dont know what to think.
Suppose you accept the global warming hypothesis that man is causing unacceptable global warming. You have two choices. Either you reduce population or you reduce standards of living. The problem is, global warming activists have tried to avoid stating this conclusion.

Still, Obama received 65,915,796 votes in 2012, so I’d be willing to believe roughly 60 million too many people in the United States (perhaps only 55 million, depending on how many Obama votes were fictional, dead, or otherwise fraudulent voters). FR is to a significant extent a political site, so I don’t feel bad going there.
The real optimal population of the earth? That is in God’s hands, and I have a great deal of confidence that he is doing a perfect job with managing our population. There are some who are not living up to their potential, but it is our responsibility to do better with them - he put that challenge in our hands.

It will probably just be vaporous platitudes rather than what the press is hoping for.
On the other hand, because he’s a not very bright leftist, it may actually be horrible, an attack on human beings and development, a call for world government, etc. Then people will have to react.
If it’s bad, I predict there will be a schism, not in October at the time of the dread synod, but now. The Pope and his band will essentially separate from the Church. They may keep the property, but they won’t have the Faith.
I’m thinking Cdl Sarah might be a great candidate for “true Pope.”

It is a mess, I agree. Why we are having to suffer this I do not know.
Look at what the Orthodox Church in Russia had to bear and yet it survives and now thrives. Why should Catholics in the West expect anything less ?
Exactly. The never want to talk about what it would take (assuming anything would do what they claim to want) and who would enforce such drastic measures and how.
