You made me think of a tangential point in which Paul actually condemns the type of thinking in 1 Cor. 1:10-17. "I urge you ... by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to agree together, to end your divisions, and to be united by the same mind and purpose. For members of Chloe's household have made it clear to me, my brothers and sisters, that there are quarrels among you. Now I mean this, that each of you is saying, 'I am with Paul,' or 'I am with Apollos,' or 'I am with Cephas,' or 'I am with Christ.'

It is interesting to note that Cephas here could refer to Peter, in which case Paul is specifically condemning the apostolic succession that would be claimed by later Roman Catholics. But even if it is a different Cephas (unlikely), the rest of the passage makes clear that Paul condemns any succession other than from Christ to the believer.

Exactly, Peter was an apostle to the Jews. Catholics seem to ignore this very basic fact.
