The Irish government has cut off all funding for a Catholic marriage-counseling agency.

The announcement that the government has blocked €378,000 ($429,000) in subsidies for Accord, an agency administered by the Irish bishops’ conference, comes at a time when the government has been at odds with the Irish hierarchy over a campaign for legal recognition of same-sex marriage.

With a national referendum on same-sex marriage scheduled next week, opponents of the measure have argued that if the referendum is approved, the government will block funding for Church-related institutions that do not recognize homosexual unions. As an old man told me his daddy always told him “If someone gives you money, they’re going to tell you how to spend it.”

When the church takes money from the government the church is going to end up doing what the government tells it to do. You cannot serve two masters.

That is true.

The link did not work for me but if I understand it right the funding has already been cut off so the Church has no accuse to go along with the abomination.

As everywhere it should be- the Church, any church, should not be accepting any money from the state or any government entity. With the money comes control and inevitably requirements that conflict with the mission and with the religion itself.
