Yes, my husband was previously married and had children. But before that we were college sweethearts, and I never married, until he came back to me. He attended church with me on Easter, but he does not accept Jesus.

The fact that your husband had children does not mean that his marriage was necessarily valid. Validity is NOT judged on that basis.
