Many critics of Vatican II claimed the abandonment of the principles, ritual and ceremony of 1500 years gave official cover and concealment for apostasies to take root and grow.
As pontiff, Francis has used the moral authority of his office to push a sharply different agenda, demanding a poor church for the poor and excoriating free-market ideologies. He has said that the church should show mercy toward divorced and remarried Catholics (whom church law forbids from receiving Communion), flouted liturgical rules to wash the feet of Muslims and women, and received a transsexual at the Vatican.
This pope is very much a man of [Vatican II], says Archbishop Blaise J. Cupich of Chicago. He has an understanding of how the church ought to be positioned at the service of the world, in which we dont impose but we propose.
With appointments like Cupich's, Francis is doing his best to remake the Church into what he imagines It should me; not what God intended.
"Mercy" without justice is not real mercy; Satan loves it.
