This may be seen as quibbling but Lazarus was not resurrected. He was brought back to life and undoubtedly died when his time on earth was finished.
Christ was the first fruits of the resurrection. Until His redeeming atonement, there was no resurrection.

The Greek for again also means from above; also in verse 7.
Born from above is correct.
Now read the entire exchange and it fits perfectly.
3 Jesus replied, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born from above.’
4 ‘How can someone be born when they are old?’ Nicodemus asked. ‘Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!’
5 Jesus answered, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, “You must be born from above.” 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.’

Where the Lord points out that there is a sound that comes when EVERY ONE is born of the Spirit. MacArthur doesn’t elaborate on that. No mention of the commissions of the Lord. No detailed mention of the conversions in Acts. He just skips to the epistles, which were written to people that already knew how to be born again.
He appears to be ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

What did Nicodemus know of Christian baptism?
He didn’t. He needed something from the TaNaKh to guide him to understand. What might that be?
Perhaps a review of Ezekiel 36 may clear up the matter for you.
