I watched fire consume a building in Brooklyn once. There was so much heat you had to stand on the next block to watch it. The entire corner was a hurricane of flame. You could even hear it.
It put the fear of God in me.

But is this what Jesus said? Not on your life! Jesus said the opposite, in fact. The point in what Christ said is not that the Christian is to hold on to God or lose it all; rather, it is all about God holding on to you. This is not a subtle shade of difference, it is contradistinctive in a most complete sense. Praise God for such security.
It's far more safe and secure than if it depended on me.

You may just want to review the second half of The Lord’s Prayer.
“and Forgive us our trespasses AS we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

Powerfully Kept Indeed!!!
It does nary a bit of good to be 'saved by grace', if we have to turn right around and be 'kept by works'.
