Five Cardinals Book stolen from participants’ mailboxes at last year’s Synod on Family
Fr. Z's Blog ^ | 2/25/15 | Fr. John Zuhlsdorf

I have wanted to write about this for soooooo long now.

Kathnet broke this, in German HERE.

Remember the Five Cardinals Book™? Remaining in the Truth of Christ: Marriage and Communion in the Catholic Church helped to turn the tide – in a good way – during last October’s Synod of Bishops...

...It contains essays of five cardinals, of the archbishop secretary of the Vatican congregation for the Oriental Churches, and of three scholars direct at the notions suggested by Walter Card. Kasper in the opening discourse of the consistory in February 2014. It blew the Kasper proposals and arguments out of the water...

...When the organizers of the Synod realized what had been sent to the members of the Synod, someone removed all the envelopes from the members’ mail boxes!

That’s called theft. That’s called illegal. They stole people’s mail. Please correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t that a crime in, I think, every country? The Vatican City State… that’s a country… isn’t it.

That’s how frightening the Book is to those who want to overturn the Church’s practice and, therefore, teaching.

The Kathnet piece, by Manfred Ferrari, indicates that the heist was ordered by Card. Baldisseri, who is the head of the office of the Synod of Bishops.

From Wikipedia:

Lorenzo Baldisseri (born 29 September 1940 in Pisa) has been the Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops since his appointment was announced by Pope Francis on 21 September 2013; previously, he had served as Secretary of the Congregation for Bishops. Ordained in 1963, Baldisseri studied at the Pontifical Lateran University, the University of Perugia from 1970 to 1973 before his assignment to Guatemala as part of the Diplomatic Service of the Holy See. He worked in many other areas of the world before, in 1992, he was relocated to Haiti when Pope John Paul II appointed him Apostolic Nuncio. At the same time he was appointed Titular Archbishop of Diocletiana. Subsequent assignments include Paraguay (1995-1999), India (2000-2002) and Brazil (2002-2012).

Here is a probable explanation as to the "heist."

From Wikipedia we have ...

2014 General Synod[edit] During the Third Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in 2014, Cardinal Kapser told reporters that since African, Asian, and Middle Eastern countries have a "taboo" against homosexuality, "they should not tell us too much what we have to do."[10] Once the story broke, he denied that he made any such comment. The reporter who wrote the story, Edward Pentin, subsequently produced a recording of the conversation, which verified that the Cardinal had made those statements.[10] Cardinal Raymond Burke called Kasper's remarks "profoundly sad and scandalous".[11] Kasper subsequently confirmed that he had had the conversation, and offered this response for one of his remarks: If one of my remarks about Africans was perceived as demeaning or insulting, then I am honestly sorry. That was and is not my intention, and not my view at all. No one will deny that Africa’s culture is different from Europe’s in many respects. But I have been in Africa too often not to esteem African culture highly.[12] Kasper also said parts of the Catholic media were engaged in a "deliberate dirty tricks" campaign against him, and said that "The fact that Catholic media (and unfortunately a cardinal in person) should participate in it, in order to tear down another position morally, is shameful."[12][13]

The deliberate dirty trick in question being the accurate reporting of his own comment? Well he's not called Kasper the Friendly Heretic for nothing

It’s a circus thanks to Su Tanguidad.

“Su Santidad” means “His Holiness” in Spanish, and “Tanguidad” means “His Tango-ness,” referring to Argentina, of course. A great remark from a poster on a Spanish blog I read.

Various other reports circulating on the net say that the Office of the Synod "intercepted" the mail and "blocked delivery". Not sure if there's a difference legally but it sounds somewhat more refined than prying open mailboxes with a screwdriver.

Of course, robbing mailboxes is a form of blocking delivery and may simply be a euphemism for same but the other reports make it sound a little more subtle and sophisticated although the end result is, of course, the same.

Synodgate!!

The Catholic execution of Joan of Arc - for wearing men's clothing - is another instance of Catholics punishing good people for not "keeping the faith."

Joan was burned by the English Catholics because she, “a mere girl”, beat them. IIRC She was going after the Hussites next.
