[Russell Moore, the president of the Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, a] prominent Southern Baptist leader who raised concerns last year after he advised that Christians should support the rights of other religions and also traveled to the Vatican for an interfaith conference on marriage is now stating that probate judges in Alabama should either follow the recent federal ruling in favor of “gay marriage” or resign.

I'm thinking that Russell should resign instead.

He has no idea what he’s talking about.

He should read Alabama Chief Justice Roy S. Moore Memorandum to Alabama Probate Judges

Judge Moore *is* following the law

So Russell Moore says we should fold and walk away when faced with evil. Does he also go along with the other compromising taking place at the SBC?

probate judges in Alabama should either follow the recent federal ruling in favor of “gay marriage” or resign

This is quite an interesting view, mostly because it is such a common error.

First of all, Federal courts don't get to make "laws". The Federal Constitution DOES require States and State judges to defer to CONGRESS (not courts) when a Federal law MADE TO IMPLEMENT POWERS GRANTED TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN THE CONSTITUTION conflicts with a State law or State constitutional amendment.

Federal courts MAY get involved when a State challenges either in the legal forum or through direct action the supremacy of Federal laws (or treaties), AS LONG AS THOSE LAWS OR TREATIES ARE MADE TO WIELD THE POWERS GRANTED TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

The courts got involved, heavily involved, because neither Congress nor the States were willing to legislate to enforce the civil rights aspects of Amendments XIV, XV, or XXIV.

What Federal law made pursuant to the delegated powers of Congress, or what Federal Constitutional provision, is implicated in these homosexual marriage cases?

Can we assume that SBC Moore also would have attacked any justice condemning the Roe/Wade ruling when it came down?

So what is he saying? Will we expect to see homosexual marriages taking place in Southern Baptist churches now? Where is he going with this?

Before the constitution became just words on parchment, a law that fails to meet Constitutional muster is not law and needs not be enforced. Judges and LEOs all should understand that Constitutional concept and adhere to their oath like Judge Roy Moore is doing.

He can go to H3ll. What an idiot. What we need in this country is a lot more popular defiance of Judicial Tyranny, and a lot less Vichy leadership.

I can think of another resignation that needs to take place - his!

Moore stated. “If we lose, our responsibility is to advocate as citizens for our views, even if that project is (as in the case of the pro-life movement) a long-term project, while we work for our constitutional guarantees of freedom of conscience and religious liberty.”

Well, how’d that work out for the unborn? While we “advocate” how many babies have to die and have died? If churches had marched on DC and not left until we got Roe vs Wade overturned we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in today. Now, the populace is even more apathetic and will be more so in the future. I say we act NOW. Resist now while we still have some means to do so. This is the issue of our time and it’s broader than same-sex marriage. Marriage itself is being redefined. Slouching to Gomorrah for sure.

Moore will be saying the same thing when they come to cut our necks. “Oh, let’s not be too hasty now. We can always “advocate”.

Nikita Kruchev once said “we will destroy you from within” I think even he would be surprised at how successful the communists have been, they have become deeply entrenched in every aspect of America; our Free Republic is hanging by some very thin, frayed and worn threads.

I’ve a better idea: Alabama tell the Federal government to kiss our southern butts, and not issue homosexuals these mendacious permits to “marry”. Get a private contract if you want to share healthcare or bequeath wealth, you sodomites.

A prominent Southern Baptist leader...

Man, what a mess we've made of things...Protestants and Catholics both would do better cleaning up their own yards first before they complain about their neighbor's yard.

Few if any are perfect enough to judge without it being used against them in the Court of the Lord.

In my growing awareness and both love and fear of God, I think it's better to just be humble, especially when we are this confused.

Russell’s statements carry no weight with the churches which belong to the convention. The convention has very little power, we run our churches, thank you very much.

This is what we get when we FAIL to OBEY God.
For it is written: Those who support homosexuals are against our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
These anti Christ people only bring destruction on us ALL.
I have NO sympathy for homosexuals!

Homosexuality is a "Mark" of disobedience.
Someone once asked The answer is in the definition of "REPROBATE". And the reason"why" is given in the Bible.

God has a cure for homosexuals.

"Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect
that God is just,
that his justice cannot sleep forever."

And if Judges don’t go along with promoting evil, and they don’t resign, what is this silly man going to do? Christianity is big business for creeps like Moore, and big business is always looking towards the next buck. Southern Baptists should withhold tithes until their leadership repents.
