That's true. Some of the pieces you've posted from Dwight Moody have similar preoccupations, among the universally-applicable elements.

The Cure' of Ars, a highly-regarded Catholic priest of the same era, was also very opposed to drinking, dancing, and card-playing. These can, after all, lead to drunkenness, fornication, and gambling away the grocery money!
