Cardinals, archbishops, and even an African king urge Pope to defend the faith at the family synod

Several cardinals and archbishops, numerous academics, and even an African king are joining an alliance of conservative, pro-family Catholic groups in a petition campaign asking Pope Francis to “clarify the growing confusion among the faithful” about the Church’s teaching on sexuality, and in particular, the sanctity of marriage and sinfulness of homosexual relations.

Among the over 90,000 signers are American Cardinal Raymond Burke, Chilean Cardinal Jorge Arturo Medina Estévez, Latvian Cardinal Janis Pujats, Archbishop Wolfgang Haas of Vaduz (Liechtenstein), and Archbishop Aldo di Cillo Pagotto of Paraíba (Brazil).

Among the groups gathering those signatures are the 30 worldwide pro-family and pro-life organizations operating under the name Voice of the Family, including LifeSiteNews and the UK’s Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC). The group formed in alarmed response to the apparent direction the 2014 Extraordinary Synod on the Family was taking.

Other signers to the petition include former U.S. senator and presidential hopeful Rick Santorum, and Kigeli V, Rwanda’s king in exile. Pro-life leaders to sign the petition include SPUC’s John Smeaton, LifeSiteNews co-founder John-Henry Westen, and the Pro-Life Action League’s Joseph Scheidler.

Life is not black and white, and measured in 'simple' terms!

"the sanctity of marriage"

No one's against marriage, but if one party transgresses and the other party is supposed to be "stuck"????

What about this one......

"Thou shalt not kill".......??????

But, we are happy to send others to war to do just that!

So, here is an option:

In the “progressive tradition”, let us XPians ^change the language and definition^ by referring to the God promulgated, monogamous relationship of man-and-wife as “Holy Matrimony” and ^^^fully remove the rite from the secular realm^^^.

The couple will then need to apply to the local secular-administrate to recognize their “marriage” while the church can recognize Holy Matrimony.

This would require that the church no longer SERVE the state in instances of (what the STATE may call) marriage.

Actually the proper translation is "Thou shalt not murder". And the God who wrote it also sent Moses and Joshua to war against the enemies of Israel.

The petition's very existence is, in effect, a testament to its almost certain failure.

The fact that a Pope has to be petitioned by the faithful in the first place, speaks eloquently of the current state of scandal. If it requires a petition to get the Pope to do his job, then one wonders if there's really any point to it.

Petitions or surveys only matter to Francis if they are meant to question or raise concers with Church teaching.

Push poll proselytizing is the latest modernist weapon against the Faith.
