Just as Christ Jesus isn't simply "a" savior, He isn't "a" mediator. Anyone who went to elementary school should know that articles are used to notify the reader of the grammatical definiteness of the noun. The distinction between the indefinite article "a" and the definite article "the" makes all the difference in the world. It isn't hyperbole to say the difference is an eternal one. If we could properly use the indefinite article the offense of the gospel would be gone and the world would have no problem with Christianity. It's the exclusivity claims of Christ that the world hates. If He was merely "a way" we would be tolerated. Problems start when we report that He is "the" only way.
I wouldn't pay any attention to the writings or views of a man who referred to Christ as "a mediator" any more than I would if he referred to Him as "s savior." That subtle change is from the pit of hell.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5)
Thanks so much for posting this. It will be a great help during Lent!
