There are many here on this forum with less grasp of what lies ahead.

He’s just giving his imperfect vision of what lies ahead on the sea of glass mingled with fire.

Being a Bishop places one in a position of having to ‘know’ things that are not known, for the sake of appearances.

His handle on the future is no worse than Osteen, Warren, Swaggert, pope Francis, or Camping.

.
You could possibly be reading more than was intended into the word ‘victim.’

Yeshua was in a sense a victim of our transgressions.

He did agonize over his crucifixion.

Nope. The Roman one doesn’t understand the new birth.

It is impossible to be saved without the help of the Most Blessed Virgin, because those who are not saved by the justice of God are saved by the intercession of Mary.

We are saved by the grace and mercy of God.

If we experienced His justice, we'd be burning in hell right now. Every last one of us.

Mary can save no one. Peter himself says that there is NO other name under heaven by which we must be saved except through Jesus.

Sometimes I think we have such huge misunderstandings is because we do not understand each others terms. We often agree about 90% of our theology but we cannot see it.
I used to be Evangelical but became Catholic 3 years ago. Catholics do believe in salvation by grace alone but there are nuances.

Catholics are saved BY GRACE ALONE
Catholics have been saved, are saved, and will be saved.
The Sacraments, the ordinary MEANS OF SALVATION, are RECEIVED as GIFT through faith and are not earned by works.
Catholics can NOT earn heaven(we receive it)

Catholics are not imputed grace it is infused in us

I’m sorry, you seemed to enjoy the initial St. John Chrysistom quote, I just thought I’d share a few more. He obviously believed those things about Mary, as do I. I’m sorry that you do not understand Our Lady because you would have a great ally in her and come to love her as much as Saint John and every other catholic that finds her does.

There is nothing in her that is contrary to Jesus Christ and His mission.

Today is the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes. Wonderful story if you care to read about it.

The attempt to portray St. John Chrysostom as a reformer is ludicrous!!

Here is his position on the regenerative nature of the sacrament of baptism:

It is through baptism that we receive remission of sins, sanctification, communion of the spirit, and eternal life.

Not exactly compatible with the anti-catholic position of sola fida for salvation.

St. John Chrysostom is a Doctor of the Catholic Church and he revered the Eucharist, as well. His homilies are preserved and can easily found online, and there is no question whatsoever that St. John revered the Eucharist and preached a sacramental church.

It is dangerous to introduce the Church Fathers to your fellow anti catholics. Many a convert became Catholic by this very act.

St. John Chrysostom, (347-407) was a Greek (early foreunner to the Orthodox Catholics -NOT ROME) bishop of Antioch, in the Greek part of the Catholic Church, and became Patriarch of Constantinople.

The fact that he was named Patriarch (Father) should already raise a warning flag for protestants! This is because it is early proof of the hierarchical nature of the early Church - not a protestant position whatsoever!

He believed in the real presence of the mass, that the bread literally becomes Jesus Christ.

He taught that Church tradition can be equal in authority to the Scriptures.

The Church Fathers are actually the fathers of the Roman Catholic Church and Greek orthodoxy.

These men were exalted by the Church to authority beyond what “bible” Christians would say that scripture designates, and are therefore it is considered dangerous to expose your fellow anti-catholics to their actual writings. I would assume that you would not want to expose your fellow anti-catholics to Catholic Doctrine in any form. Intelligent non catholics who actually read the whole of Fathers usually end up Catholic.
.
St. John Henry Newman: Ora Pro Nobis

Matthew 17:15-20 ‘by their fruits you shall know them”

St. John Henry Newman became a convert from reading the Church Fathers in depth and many followed him into the Church; you may not want to encourage the reading of their writings. Scott Hahn is also an example of this, and he has inspired many former protestant pastors into the Church.

Quote-
Today is the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes. Wonderful story if you care to read about it.

Today is actually the 21st day of our Heavenly Fathers month.
The 6th day of His week,.

Genesis 1 tells that wonderful story of what He made on His 6th day..
If people care to read it,, and worship Him who made heaven the earth, sea and all that is in them..

He made them all.. and He put His Seal on tomorrow, His Seventh Day Sabbath,,

But feasts for saints and days named after false gods like wooden and Thor are the rule today..

Great post - see also my post #27 - I think you might like it!

Our Lady or Lourdes: Ora Pro Nobis

P.S. My daughter and I were at Lourdes 10 years and she took the Baths as a 5 year old. She has since been cured of a very dangerous blood disorder, and we have no doubt that Our Lady of Lourdes has interceded for her. Our Lourdes water from ten 10 years ago is as clear and cold as the day we collected it from the springs, and just as sweet, although not refrigerated at all.

Read “The Voyage to Lourdes” by Alexis Carrell, if you have not already done so. Highly Recommended!

Wow! I am so happy for you and your daughter, what a tremendous blessing. We also have some water from Lourdes, given to us by a family friend, it is very comforting having it in the house.

I will have to keep an eye out for the book, my daughters have several books on Lourdes, I’ll have to check and see if they have it.

I have a big devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Best wishes to you and yours.
