Thing is - what do the kids selling the cookies have to do with it?

The kids selling the cookies are directly financing the promotion of baby murder.

Thank you for playing.

Next contestant.

Not much. They’re collateral damage I guess. But if they’re old enough to “work” for that organization, they’re old enough to know why some people aren’t buying their products.

Girl Scouts is a real, national organization. They don’t have local charters owned by groups like the VFW, Catholic Church, LDS church, etc.

BSA is a national organization, but the actual charters are owned by local chartering organizations. Part of member dues go to national, but the bulk of it goes to the Council.

When the BSA sells popcorn, 70 percent stays in the council, with 50 percent, or more depending on the Council, goes to the Troop.

When the GSA sells cookies, 10 percent stays with the Troop, the rest is national. There isn’t a ‘local’ GSA entity - it’s all national.

With Gates, for now at least, the homo thing is at an end. National is going to let the issue die, for now at least.

For most of us, its a deal breaker, and I think they know it. They took a 12 percent hit in membership, but their numbers are telling them it wasn’t the homo thing, but the molester thing, and they don’t think the two are connected.

Talk about institutional blindness.

As such, when you buy a box of GSA cookies, you really are supporting national. They sell a ton of cookies, so the 10 percent is significant to the kid, who uses it to go to camp and such.

When you buy BSA popcorn, 30 percent goes to the manufacturer of the popcorn, and 70 goes to the Council. 0 goes to national. Most of the 70 goes to the Packs and Troops. Cub Scouts are the ones that get hurt the most on a popcorn boycott. Individual cubs. By far, they sell more popcorn than the Boy Scouts do.

The local troop gets something like 20 cents a box.
A girl is lucky if she sells 100 boxes.
The council executive gets $100K a year or more.
