Uh-oh. Secularists Sad to Discover Pope Francis is Catholic
CreAtive Minority Reporta ^ | January 19, 2015 | Matthew Archbold

This is a breakup letter. But it's worse than that. This is a breakup letter by a junior high schooler who is trying to tell everyone in the hallway outside homeroom that the person they had liked a few days ago is just like kinda' totally awful or something.

Some lib in The Inquisitr wrote:

Elected in 2013, Pope Francis has since shown us a very convincing image of a bold, refreshing deviant who has adamantly defied the church’s typically iron-fisted conservatism. His stance on LGBT, women’s rights, atheism, and evolution were so mind-blowingly revolutionary that many people saw him as the single greatest change the controversy-ridden Catholic church has seen in centuries.

People were so wrong.

Pope Francis, the first pope to hail outside Europe, was an instant fan favorite for being so evidently anti-poverty. They describe him as a pope for the poor, and he probably deserves the recognition. He’s often seen walking the less fancy streets of Rome, comforting those without shelter and food. He has lambasted corporations for being less sympathetic with the people’s plight, and he’s shown incredible concern for those less fortunate than others. With all these saintly deeds, it would have been unwise to doubt his dedication to the poor and the oppressed.

However, his recent visit to the Philippines has led many people to think that his pro-poor statements lack in actual substance and credibility. This is partly due to his recently open support for anti-poor policies such as the opposition to birth control.

The Philippine Catholic church, already staunchly opposed to birth control, got a pat on the head from Pope Francis during his trip to the country. Before a crowd of Filipino Catholics, the Pope reinforced a locally unwavering church attitude and issued a condemnation on modern birth control methods. NPR describes it as his “strongest defense yet” of the Catholic church’s opposition to birth control. Disappointingly, this comes shortly after historic promises that the Catholic church will once and for all ease up on its hardened objection to birth control and contraception.

Here’s the thing: If Pope Francis really is for the poor, he should be the first to see the overwhelming scientific connection between modern birth control and reduction in poverty. Unintended pregnancies occur the most in places where poverty is rife. Lack of knowledge and access to birth control methods are also a major problem in poverty-ridden areas. There is a crystal-clear connection between poverty and family planning that the Pope somehow refuses — or at least fails — to see.
Here's the thing - you can care for the poor all you want but unless you're ok with birth control and abortion, there's no need to apply to being accepted by the liberal elites. If you don't truck with death, you're the enemy. It's that simple.

Is he really? If I were Catholic, I would certainly not claim him...

Amazing, amazing!

From an article I found.

“Marriage is the icon of God’s love for us”

Posted Apr. 2, 2014 by Marriage Unique for a Reason

Today, Pope Francis concluded his Wednesday catechesis on the Sacraments with a reflection on marriage. He began by explaining that marriage is “A sacrament that leads us to the heart of God’s plan, which is a plan of alliance with his People, with all of us, a plan of communion.” He then explained, “The image of God is a married couple, man and woman, not only man, not only woman, but rather both. This is the image of God: love, God’s alliance with us is represented in the alliance between man and woman.

“We were created to love, as a reflection of God and his love. And in matrimonial union the man and woman realize this vocation, as a sign of reciprocity and the full and definitive communion of life.” When a man and a woman receive the Sacrament of marriage, “God is, so to say, ‘mirrored’ in them, he imprints in them the features and indelible nature of His love. Marriage is the icon of God’s love for us. Indeed, God too is communion: the three Persons of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit have always lived and live forever in perfect unity. And this is the mystery of marriage: God makes married couples into one existence. The Bible uses a strong term: it says one ‘flesh’ only, so intimate is the union between man and woman in marriage.” Pope Francis then concluded his catechesis by saying, “Married life is beautiful, and must be protected.”

Let us pray together for the courage to continue to protect the truth of marriage as the union of one man and one woman!

Are you denigrating Pope Francis or really saying he IS Catholic?

Pope strongly defends Catholic teaching against contraception

Manila, Philippines • Pope Francis issued his strongest defense yet of church teaching opposing artificial contraception, using a Friday rally in Asia's largest Catholic nation to urge families to be "sanctuaries of respect for life."

Francis also denounced the corruption that has plagued the Philippines for decades and urged officials to instead work to end its "scandalous" poverty and social inequalities during his first full day in Manila, where he received a rock star's welcome at every turn.

"Be sanctuaries of respect for life, proclaiming the sacredness of every human life from conception to natural death," Francis exhorted the crowd. "What a gift this would be to society if every Christian family lived fully its noble vocation."

Francis also urged families to be on guard against what he called "ideological colonization," an apparent reference to gay marriage, which isn't legal in the Philippines. The church opposes gay marriage, holding that marriage is only between man and wife.

Here’s the thing: not everyone is going to prioritize things the same as you, but that doesn’t mean they don’t care.

Of course there is a clear connection between poverty and family planning....anyone with a brain can see it. The connection is illegitimacy.

The Catholic Church's opposition to birth control comes from its opposition to sex outside of marriage. If unmarried women would stop bearing children, poor families with children would still exist, but the spread of poverty would no doubt be reversed dramatically.

Family planning isn't birth control and abortion, it is actually having a PLAN to be able to support a FAMILY, THEN getting married, THEN having children.

Whoa, I think I need to make a T-Shirt :^)

“I would say he is a cafeteria Catholic”.

Wrong. Cafeteria Catholics believe in abortion, women priests and homosexual “marriage”. Pope Francis does not. And all this talk about him being so much for the poor is really stupid. All popes are committed to helping the poor.
But the media ignored JP2 and B16 because they they didn’t leave themselves open to be misunderstood like Francis constantly does.

It would be helpful if you could provide specific examples to support your statement.

I would say he is very confused in his use of words. He thereby causes confusion and that breeds potential sin among those that are followers. That is scandal and it is wrong, particularly for a Church leader.

He needs to concern himself less with the secular World and more with the saving of souls. The poor will always be with us. The poor in spirit do not need to be with us.

We need less ‘God is All Love’ and more ‘God is All Just’ and Justice demands accountability for sin IE: Hell!

I am a cradle Catholic and practicing. I have FIVE children. I can not remember the last sermon about the justice of God or about the idea of sin. Sin that causes the death of the soul and invites an eternity in Hell.

Make no mistake, we get plenty of God’s forgiveness, but forgiveness is not available to those who willfully sin and refuse to repent.

This reads more like the hazards of leftists actually believing their own stuff. They built this puppet Pope Francis to be Punch to Pope Benedict’s (and others’) Judy, and are surprised when the real guy occasionally whaps them on the nose instead of the conservatives.

I would say he is very confused in his use of words.

His use of words .... his native tongue is Spanish, he usually delivers his homilies and other reflections in Italian. On his most recent trip, he opted to speak in English.

Our contemporary society tends to use sound bites, selective quips often pulled out of context from the entire speech. We have become so nuanced in one's use of language that it neglects to consider how words might have been mistranslated from native tongue to the common parlance of another country. My native tongue is English but I have studied both French and Italian. Many years ago, I was asked to deliver a presentation in French. If you are familiar with the process of how we start out by formulating our thoughts in our native tongue then you know how challenging it is to take a carefully crafted speech from one language into another. In my case, I elected to have a native French speaker do the translation. Afterwards, I devoted hours of rehearsal on where to place inflections, elevating the voice on certain points while diminishing it on others ... rehearsing with yet another native French speaker. And all of this work was for one speech.

Perhaps you can cut the pope some slack.

I think not. I refuse to ‘cut him some slack’ He has every ability to speak clearly.

He causes confusion. He can speak six languages, he has made it to the top of his profession. It is no mistake that he uses the words he uses. If he is unable to speak in a clear manner, if he is unwilling to support Church doctrine strongly, he should consider saying nothing at all. Less trouble would come of it. Less damage to the Church would arise.

I mince no words. I have little love for this Pope. I believe he is a potential disaster in the making. The best thing about him is his advanced age and his poor health.

Perhaps the Holy Spirit will be more attentive at the next conclave.

As a Catholic I agree completely with you. He has done nothing but cause confusion. Think he enjoys the press adulation which makes me think him causing confusion is intentional.
