Pope Francis Thrills Manila As Estimated 6 Million Turn Up For Mass Estimated turnout for pope’s final mass would be the largest ever audience for a head of the Catholic church, surpassing the 5 million record set by John Paul II in 1995

Manila city officials and the Vatican estimate a record 6 million people attended Pope Francis’ final mass in the Philippines and lined his motorcade route – a figure that would make it the largest ever audience for a head of the Catholic church.

The chairman of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Francis Tolentino, provided the estimate while a Vatican spokesman said the Holy See had been told by local officials that the figure was between 6 million and 7 million.

Organisers had expected as many as 6 million people might turn out, surpassing the 5 million record set by John Paul II at the same park in 1995. With two hours to go, Tolentino reported 3 million had packed the park and surrounding streets.

Note the orgasmic reporting by the Guardian for the leftist pope.

Did he give a global warming lecture or muse about his favorite Caribbean dictator, Fidel?

I don’t know about the latter but he certainly lectured about the former:

>>He then asked that they show concern for the environment “not only because this country, more than many others, is likely to be seriously affected by climate change” but because care for creation is demanded as responsible citizens and followers of Christ. He also said respecting the enviroment means more than using cleaner products, but seeing “with the eyes of faith, the beauty of God’s saving plan, the link between the natural environment and the dignity of the human person.” <<

>> Pope Francis waded into the global debate on climate change and the environment on Sunday, saying in the text of a speech that man was destroying nature and betraying God’s calling to be stewards of creation.<<

P.S. He wore a non-recyclable plastic poncho during his lecture on environmentalism.

I’m Catholic but wouldn’t attend or even view a quasi-Mass led by this pope...or any other Vatican II liturgy, for that matter.

I’m a traditional Catholic too but during the Mass the priest is “Alter Christus.”

You mean during a valid Mass.

6 million people going anywhere is a mighty big carbon footprint.

I think you meant “in persona Christi”, anyway.

The gross changes to the Roman liturgy following Vatican II (whether or not consistent with the intent of the document) were inspired by the devil and no Satanic liturgy should be recognized by authentic Catholics.

Have any “Miraculous Host” events been documented during a Novus Ordo liturgy? If so, I might change my tune. But there is always the chance the devil is mimicking one.

Look at the majority of Catholics who were "catechized" since 1970 or so. Is there any question what they are following is not genuine Catholicism? They are influenced by a sort of "democratic morality" which is not Catholic at all. They haven't even been taught Catholicism for crying out loud.

He actually gave a decent homily about the family. I was surprised - it was one of the best, most orthodox things I’ve heard from him.

Of course, it’s when he’s sitting on the airplane free-associating that he’s really dangerous...

Pope Francis waded into the global debate on climate change and the environment on Sunday, saying in the text of a speech that man was destroying nature and betraying God’s calling to be stewards of creation

Shouldn't he be more concerned with man destroying man through abortion?

Once again he panders to the leftists who spit in the Face of Christ.

shouldn’t he be more concerned with the children that were rounded up and kept in cages because he was visiting? Children raped and molested, beaten and starved. I read about this last week the irony of it all. Because of the Pope, children were going to be raped, beaten and caged.

There is no way the POPE doesn’t know about the centers there that round up the children who are abandoned and/or orphaned.

It just sickens me. Jesus would have gone to these children. The Catholic church with all of its money could build orphanages for these children and get them off the street.
