Dr. Charles Stanley: The real deal? (vanity)
me

Posted on 01/18/2015 10:53:07 AM PST by Leaning Right

I was flipping channels and came across Dr. Charles Stanley preaching a sermon. I am, in general, suspicious of TV preachers. But Stanley came across as the real deal. Anyone care to offer opionions on his ministry?

He has always been biblically straight with his message as far as I can tell.

Worth watching, as is the Shepherd’s Chapel.

IMNSHO... ‘Pod.

As far as I know, he is one of the best out there. I know my family and friends really like him.

I’ve found him to be an outstanding pastor. Theologically sound.

I have listened/watched him for years.

It was during one of his sermons many decades ago when his words stripped my soul bare and I broke down weeping and accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. My brother is a minister and I called him with such joy in my heart I just had to share.

I was raised a Catholic but never was as inspired or touched as I was that day.

I also flip to the religion channels occasionally, and in my opinion - of the ones I'm familiar with - Stanley and James Robison seem to be among the most authentic. Joyce Meyer also seems fairly straightforward, but I understand their are some questions about her allegedly luxurious lifestyle.

I would rank Mike Murdock near the bottom - with him, it's ALWAYS about money. Also, I find "Doctors" Jack and Rexella van Impe entertaining, albeit goofy. I also watch Hal Lindsey, who is relaxing and informative when talking about current events, less so when talking about "end times prophecy."

Listen.

Stanley is more a radio preacher, and they are usually much more solid than the lunatic TV charlatans.

Listen.

Stanley, as I heard him over the years, has been sound.

Pretty much tells it like it is. Always like how he’ll say when referring to a bible verse..... “look here...look at this here!” or “now see here what this says.”..... on par with Dr. David Jeremiah.

No flash, no glitz, no glam, he is the real deal...many years, no visible scandals, no accounting issues, etc. It helps when you are not much to look at...

I would say he is the real deal. I’ve listened to his show quite a bit on satellite radio and have read a few of his books. His focus is Biblical and is not afraid to call a sin a sin.

Always struck me as a straight-shooter. Have’t seen him in 20 years, though. Amazed that he’s still out there. I mean, he was old back then.

I started watching Dr. Stanley’s “In Touch” television broadcasts back in the late 1980’s. It’s been my observation that he teaches accurately from the Word of God.

My observation is he is indeed the real deal.

You’re exactly correct! This always gets me chuckling when he repeats this over and over before reading the passage of scripture he wants to impress upon his listeners.

He always reminds folks the importance of checking what he says against what the Word of God says.

If you have a Bible, you can check out what he says for yourself. (You can be of "noble character" like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, who "examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.")

That's good advice for everything you hear or read. If you read the religious discussions on FR, you've probably discovered that there's plenty being said nowadays that is contrary to the Scriptures.

I like it when he has just made a point and says, "Well, then somebody says . . . ," referring to an objection to his point, and he offers a response to the objection.

“...biblically straight...” You may want to check and see when Dr. Stanley’s message for salvation includes the instructions given in Acts 2:36-47, Acts 9:6, Acts 22:16, and I Peter 3:20-21.

He’s been on for a long, long time and I have rarely disagreed with anything he has preached. He is excellent at taking topics and giving people a Biblical response.

Age is starting to slow him down but his son Andy has picked up where his father has slowed down and seems to be as on target as his dad.

Please pray for both men because they have developed an outstanding international ministry seen all over the world.

It's hopeless on this forum for people to agree on the soundness of ANY preacher. It's funny how the doctrine of "scripture alone" does not resolve all differences.
