The new Moses movie/Exodus movie, and also the Noah movie, are exercises in futility on the part of Hollywood, but they persist with the foolish depiction of the bible story.
I suppose they imagine there are those who will see their versions and never read the Bible version, and they imagine some sway that will have in these people’s perceptions of God/the Bible.
But, it’s too easy to read the real thing...even in our day.
And then folks know Hollywood lies. But, that is Hollywood. People pretending to be something they aren’t.
***...but they persist with the foolish depiction of the bible story.***
I would rather watch an overproduced Cecil B. DeMille extravaganza!
These manuscripts were originally written in Koiné, or common Greek, and not all of the amateur copyists spoke the language or were even fully literate.”
There is no such thing as “Koine” Greek. According to scholars, the Greek NT is an almost literal word-for-word translation from Hebrew original documents; ergo, the translators tried to preserve what they already considered to be holy—ie, the words of Jesus—without changing them more than they had to. IE, the Greek NT is not bad Greek, but it is more like a literary rubbing from an original.
(”Koine” was an explanation invented by some scholars to try and explain why the Greek of the NT was not “classical” Greek.)
(See, for example, Carmignac, Birth of the Synoptics; and Tresmontant, the Hebrew Christ.)
The NT thus bears within it the evidence of its sources being contemporary with Jesus and the apostles.
Indeed.
They underestimate biblical literacy.
Both Noah and Exodus bombed. Even the most marginal of “Christians” know that the Hollywood versions were nonsense.
Atheists won’t go because it has a biblical theme.
Christians won’t go because they know it’s false.
Dumb, Dumb, Dumb.
I live near a guy from Australia, originally from Greece. He speaks Greek, Hebrew, English, French, Italian and German. He tells me that the Greek to English translations of the New Testament are EXTREMELY good, with maybe a minor variation in spelling here and there, not one having anything to do with any major doctrine. I wonder what this same clown thinks about the English translation of the Koran. To this nutcase, the Koran is probably divinely and errorlessly translated. The guy is a total nerd.
Cecil tried to be close to the real story. You’ve got to give him credit for that.
they do go ON and ON and ON don’t they....
“Furthermore, with reference to the woman caught in adultery, Eichenwald states: Unfortunately, John didnt write it. Scribes made it up sometime in the Middle Ages.
That episode fits in the NT exactly where it is supposed to. Space is lacking here, but not only does it fit into the context of the entire chapter, but it is perfectly mirrored in the other book by John, Revelation, where the Accuser is “cast out”, as are the accusers in the story in John.
Next week, Newsweek will tell us what Republicans and conservatives are doing wrong, and what we need to do in order to be more relevant.
So what is Eichenwalds point? No need to read the Bibe? No need to be saved? Do what one wants there will be no ultimate judgement?
I wanna see Eichenwald use this “logic” to question the truth of the koran.
I'd buy popcorn for that one. :>)
I read the Newsweek article and his point is that those that believe in the Bible are ignorant and a danger to those around them,
Here’s the outline:
I. Demean Word of God (Old Testament)
II. Homosexuals are good
III. Demean Word of God (New Testament)
IV. Homosexuals are good
V. Demeans Word of God (Prophecy)
VI. Demean Conservatives and Republicans
VII. Homosexuals ares good
More evidence the end of the age is fast approaching,
Clearly written by a sexually confused Democrat, and using a rabid atheist like Bart Erhman as some sort of ‘unbiased’ biblical scholar for reference.
Even manages to toss a Sarah Palin taunt into the mix while attempting at every opportunity to nuance a way out of hell for homosexuals,
Satan seems to be upping the attacks against the legitimacy of Gods word and against the restoration of Israel to the land,
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;” 2 Thessalonians 2:3
“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:18
Newsweek is owned by a LIBTARD JEW, so what do you expect???????
“Atheists wont go because it has a biblical theme.
Christians wont go because they know its false.”
You nailed that one
I believe it’s starting to dawn on the ‘homosexual biblical theologians’ that it’s really impossible to make the bible be pro-homosexual. So, if you can’t join ‘em, beat ‘em.
I thought much of the Greek text of the NT was originally written in Aramaic (sp?) and there may be some differences between the two texts. Not being a wise a*ss, just asking for information from those who know more.
Current Newsweek owners are some kind of evangelical Christians, I think. Maybe you’re thinking of Harman (of Harman-Kardon stereo fame). The deceased libtard Jew didn’t own it very long.
Newsweek’s heritage is being carried on by The Daily Beast.
Thank You for your affirmation, FRiend!

The most open and sincere public, on-the-street discussion of the Bible I have heard in recent years was between two black guards at the National Archives. I suppose they were on their break , standing in a hallway, poring over a passage in Genesis. I wonder if this makes Eichenwald a racist. The true fear of the leftist elitists is the power of the scriptures to bring people of all ethnicities and stations in life together. All he can do is mock and whine about it.
what next will transgender advocates start finding ways to make the bible ok their sin too????
