Father Rutler is the real deal. All Catholic priests should try to live up to the standards he sets. He also has a genius IQ and for exercise he likes to go to the gym and box a few rounds and I understand he’s a very good boxer.
Indeed. So much so that Dolan views him as a threat and moved Rutler from the Church of Our Saviour to St. Michael's. Rutler never complained. He embraced his new congregation and nurtures them in much the same way he did at the previous parish.
In researching my family ancestry, the first fact revealed to me was that my immigrant great, great grandparents had their children baptized at St. Michael's. A few years ago, I submitted a request for copies of their baptismal records. It took a few weeks but they all arrived. That church holds a special place in my heart. As Fr. Rutler noted, it served one of the roughest neighborhoods in NYC, where my great, great grandparents raised 5 children.
