My mother was a Catholic and when I was about 10 I was forced to endure an ordeal where a child molester babbled a bunch of nonsense in an extinct language while shoving a cracker and some grape juice down my throat. No one ever asked me if I wanted to be a part of this charade and to this day rabid Catholics claim that I am a Catholic because I went through the initiation process. To anyone who thinks I am a Catholic, I'm not. I also don't consider myself a fallen-away Catholic. I believe that whatever religion you are, it has to come from the heart. And in my heart I never was and I never will be a Catholic.

My mother was Southern Baptist. I was dunked in a big tank not having the slightest idea as to what was happening except that it had something to do with not dancing or drinking—two things I found out later Catholics do quite well. To do this day I am not Southern Baptist.

Were you baptized? If so, you are a Catholic.

Anyone who claims you are Catholic because you were forced to make your first communion does not know what they are talking about. What religion you practice should always be a free will choice and not something anyone is coerced into. I am assuming you decided not to be confirmed. Shame on those who have misrepresented the Catholic faith to you.

I am assuming you are being sarcastic when you mention grape juice because Catholic priests use wine in a communion chalice. If it was indeed unfermented grape juice then you were not at a Catholic church.

May God bring you peace and bless you in however you may decide to follow him
