That relates interestingly to this previous FR thread:

IS POPE FRANCIS DUPING LIBERALS ON MARRIAGE? (LINK)

It seems some of these leftie fanboys are eager to believe what they want to believe.

I’ve never liked any Pope. I don’t even respect them.

I’m not a Catholic, so I don’t even know what a Pope really IS. lol (I actually have no religion)

Having said that, I find a lot of what this Pope does to be a populist gimmick. I keep expecting him to go and lay down with druggies in a crack-house for attention. He just goes overboard with those kinds of things. I think it really cheapens his position. Kind of like how 0bama cheapens the Presidency. (at least he has term limits)

Nonsense. Nothing here. Move on.
Nothing here different that what other Popes have explained about acts of mercy and forgiveness taken direct from the beatitudes. Catholic doctrine and Credo cannot be changed simply on the basis of a Pope’s ad hoc utterances.

I hated the Pope just because he was Pope, and it was wrong of me to do so.

I hate the author of this piece just because he's the author of this adolescent drivel, and it is right of me to do so.

Re: ““Some people continue to defend trickle-down theories which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the world. This opinion, which has never been confirmed by the facts, expresses a crude and naïve trust in the goodness of those wielding economic power and in the sacralized workings of the prevailing economic system.”

Free market capitalism has brought about more equity in economic prosperity, more freedom, and elevated more people out of poverty than any other economic system. The “goodness” of those wielding economic power is irrelevant to the free market working - it is the way the world ultimately works. It is not perfect and I do believe capitalism tempered with Judeo-Christian ethics helps create that safety net for society (through church and civic charitable organizations).

Any other system leads to totalitarianism.
