Insult? The truth is never an insult. The Catholic clergy are the modern day Pharisees of whom Jesus said that prostitutes and tax collectors would enter the Kingdom of Heaven before.
I believe his complaint was with the protection of these perverts and their transfer to unsuspecting new parishes.
I understand that homosexuals made the Catholic Church their special target for infiltration. I would not put that blame on the Catholic Church doorstep - because that could have happened to any organization. Like you said, evil people and perverts can sneak into any denomination. Where the Catholic Church is to be reprimanded, though, is for the multiple cases of protecting these perverts, and when they were uncovered in one parish - they'd send them elsewhere, where they'd begin preying on young children again. That was inexcusable, and I don't understand it.
