Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
My Aunt was a Court Stenographer in Boston during the 60's. She worked on some amazingly interesting cases, including the Great Brinks Robbery, and the Woburn Well Case, both of which were made into major motion pictures.
She operated a funny little machine that spewed out reams of cash-register tape, which she could read and transcribe into the legal document. Every nuance of the trial had to be recorded with total accuracy, as there were no cameras or tape recorders allowed in the courtroom. Since Massachusetts had the Death penalty at the time, a man's life could depend on the tiniest comma or dot in her transcription.
In the Ancient World, Scribes were an essential part of government. Every decree, judgement, and law had to be painstakingly recorded by hand, and the omission of a single stroke could mean the difference between Life and Death.
In the Book of Esther, Uncle Mordecai was a Scribe in the Royal Court.
By the time Jesus walked the earth, the Office of Scribe was a powerful and respected position. The Hebrew Language has numerous diacritical marks which look like little dots and curls. The omission of these can change the meaning of a word. The smallest letter (Yod), is so small that a slip of the pen could look like one! The Greek Word for this letter is "Iota", and from that word we get the word"Jot" (as in..."I'll jot that down so I'll remember!"). The little marks that adorn certain letters are called "Tittles" and are what Jesus referred to when speaking of the Law of God, "Not One Jot or Tittle Shall Pass Away".
In today's highly electronic society, where everyone has a tablet or a cell phone, and every communication is monitored and stored in a vast cloud in cyberspace, it is hard to imagine the importance of the Scribe. Yet, as my sudents clutch their Kindles and Nooks, I tell them about Books. The smell of the leather and the paper, the rustle of the pages, the crisp touch of a new page, or the soft touch of an old one, the weight of it in my hands...and ..oh yes...the PAPER CUTS! :-)
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
Hallelujah and Amen

The Words of the Holy Bible are written for the History, truth, instructions, directions, blessings, that we might learn of God, His Plan, His love, His warnings and our salvation. We read it and are profoundly impressed with the wonders of God. We are to read it on a daily basis to ever learn and live by the light of it.
Our Society is emanated with socialism, progressive ism, and we are seeing our nation in trouble on many levels. God help us. America is threatened by/on every level. LORD with out Thee we can do nothing. We pray for Thy will to correct the plight of America. Help us to see and turn away from evil and back to Thy values of love, kindness, forgiveness, mercy, and goodness, and obedience to Thy Word. Let us see the direction we are being dragged into day by day. We must turn from socialism and return to personal responsibility, knowing where we have been, where we came from and where we are going. The most successful nation is allowing itself to be strapped and changed within to become another third word nation, ruled by tyranny.
God help America. We must repent and turn away from the evil way, in Jesus name and way. Forgive us LORD, we repent and turn away from evil. We know not what we do. Have mercy on America. Tank Thee and praise Thee. Amen. Amen.
