"Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow."   (Psalm 51:7)

Prayer to Our Lady taught to St. Gertrude

O most chaste Virgin Mary,
I beseech thee by that unspotted purity wherewith thou didst prepare for the Son of God a dwelling of delight in thy virginal womb,
that by thine intercession I may be cleansed of every stain of sin.

Prayer to Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth

O Mary, may the souls who suffer cruel torments in Purgatory, purified by the ardor of the flames, be the object of your compassion!

O Mary, Open Spring which cleanses our faults, Reconciler of sinners, reach out to those who pray you and implore your assistance in Purgatory!

O Mary, intercede for our deceased. They await patiently the end of their suffering when they will see you and taste eternal joys!

O Mary, Model of the Just, Guide of the Faithful, Salvation of those who hope in you, help us to pray ardently for the souls of the deceased and touch the Heart of your Divine Son!

O Mary, by the merits you have gained, give the dead true life, obtain mercy for them, and be the way which leads to your Son Jesus and to Eternal Rest!
Amen.

Scene: New York City, man is going to jump off the building. Up rushes good Irish cop. Cop yells up to the man “Don’t jump! Think of your father”

Man replies “Haven’t got a father; I’m going to jump.”

The copy goes through a list of relatives, mother, brothers, sister, etc. Each time man says “haven’t got one; going to jump.”

Desperate the cop yells up “Don’t jump! Think of the Blessed Virgin”

Man replies “Who is that?”

Cop yells “Jump, Protestant! You’re blocking traffic!”

=============================================================

"And Jesus said, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."    1 John 1:9

And as they were stoning Stephen, he prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."    And he knelt down and cried with a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them."     Acts 7:59-60

=============================================================

Jesus prayed His intercessory prayer for the forgiveness (cleansing) of the sinners who were killing Him, and later on Stephen prayed his own intercessory prayer for the forgiveness (cleansing) of the sinners who were killing him, and we can also ask Mary to pray intercessory prayers for us so that we will be able to obtain the forgiveness (cleansing) of our own sins.    Of course, we need to have a contrite heart, and the best way to seek that forgiveness (cleansing) is through confession within the Sacrament of Reconciliation instituted by Jesus Christ.

The best way to learn about the teachings of the Catholic faith, Elsie, is to learn about the teachings of the Catholic faith, not keep looking for various flowery, poetic, exotic prayers or expressions, from a much older form of the various languages from the past, which you probably don't know how to speak.

As can be watched on youtube, Protestant Pastor Jeremiah Wright, in his own "intercessory prayerful petition" during one of his Protestant sermons, loudly asked God for damnation upon America.   We don't want to pretend that that prayer-petition of Pastor Wright is a Protestant teaching, do we?
