God is love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:9-10
And LORD, it was from this natural flow that we remember the men and women who served this nation, whose hearts yearned for a place they could call home, and a land where it was free to LOVE YOU WITH ALL THAT IS WITHIN US. LORD, we our love our Nation because YOU have first loved it, and ordained it through the blood, sweat and tears of so many devoted hearts. We love our freedom, because LORD GOD, FREEDOM is the reason CHRIST CAME and it is HIS FREEDOM that sets us free from tyranny, evil, sin, death, and all that would interfere and invade the LOVE that is who YOU ARE and what YOU give.
And most precious of all, we Love our Veterans. Past, Present and Future. How grateful, LORD, we are for YOUR DIVINE LOVE, that speaks and works through sacrifice, and that has been given to each and every one of them. OH GOD, we pray for a blessing of peace and protection to remain over those who are serving now. We thank YOU for the memories of love and pride that remain alive in those whose heroes we celebrate and remember today who are no longer among us. And in anticipation, we pray for the next generation of veterans that will take up the cause of freedom.
Dear LORD, as we remember YOU, as we remember them, and as we remember all that was sacrificed, we ask for DIVINE MERCY and GRACE to renew and restore this nation to that which we LOVE: God Family and County, and rid it of all that is contrary, OH MOST BLESSED CREATOR, SAVIOR, LORD and GOD in JESUS NAME, AMEN.
Thank You Veterans and God Bless You! :)
Prior to the American Civil War (18611865), fugitive slaves found freedom by following the Underground Railroad, a term for the secret routes from the South to the North and the abolitionists who helped them along the way. Slaves would travel at night for many miles, keeping on track by following the light of the Drinking Gourd. This was a code name for the collection of stars known as the Big Dipper, which points to the North Star. Some believe the fugitives also used encoded directions in the lyrics of the song Follow the Drinking Gourd to keep them from getting lost as they traveled.
Both the abolitionists and the drinking gourd served as points of light directing the slaves to freedom. The apostle Paul says that believers are to shine as lights in the world to show the way to those seeking Gods truth, redemption, and spiritual liberation (Phil. 2:15).
We live in a dark world that desperately needs to see the light of Jesus Christ. Our calling is to shine forth Gods truth so that others can be directed to the One who redeems and is the path to liberty and life. We point the way to Jesus, the One who is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).
