I think Tolkien was an Anglican. Marvelous man.

Tolkien was a very serious Catholic, and he explicitly wrote The Lord of the Rings as a Catholic allegory. He was instrumental in converting his friend Clive Staples Lewis to Christianity.

I read most of his books in the 80’s. They were well-paced and suspenseful. He writes cinematically, but they made awful movies of them. There is a lot of violence and terrible goings on. ( Sorry about my inarticulateness. ) I can’t read him anymore. I do like he had dogs in his stories, but he really is obsessed with desecrating the human body. He is very prolific. I heard he has agoraphobia. They did also have happy endings. But I there was many a night sleep came very hard to me sleeping in cabins.

I can’t remember the name of the Koontz novel I read. Koontz is an expert at suspense - no doubt about it!
