Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

When I opened FR this Morning, I came upon NEWwoman's Prayer for Our American Heroes (In the Religion Forum... Check it Out!) and I was stunned to see that her Scripture for the day was the New Testament parallel to the one I chose for Today's "Jobs in the Bible". I reworked the page to include her Scripture as well as mine.

The word "Minister" is somewhat overused in today's ecclesiastical world. I bear the "Title" of "Music Minister" even though I have not been ordained. (I work VERY hard though! LOL!)

The original meaning of the word "Minister" is that of one who SERVES. In a parliamentary system, the various "Ministers" serve the people. In the early Church, the office of Deacon was established to SERVE the Widows over 60 who were in need (Hey...that's me! LOL!), in order to free the Apostles to Preach. Isaiah mentions both Priests (Who serve God) and Ministers (Who serve the People, and in doing so, are ALSO serving God.)

From these Parallel passages, we can see that we are ALL "Called" to serve both God and our fellow man, and are a "Royal Priesthood".
