The author is a putz. Galileo was never ex-communicated. Copernicus, a Catholic Priest, developed heliocentricity and was never disciplined for it at all by the Church. Journalism sucks.

And the Big Bang theory was developed by a catholic priest who believed it helped describe Genesis. Many other scientists derided him at the time.

I guess being threatened with your life/livelihood is just all right with you. Galileo was imprisoned by your Church. Copernicus was wise enough to to not release his full writings until he was on his death bed. I fail to see what business it is of a church to deny (falsely in Copernicus case for 2 hundred years) what a scientist postulates from mathematics. It doesn't seem like the example Jesus gave us.
