The Roman part designates PAPIST.

Not all Catholics are papists.

No, it is not a mistaken statement.

When most people use the term "Roman" along with Catholic, they are not referring to particular "rites", but are speaking of all those who are PAPISTS. Period.

Like you said;

"All the Catholics in this chart adhere to the teaching of Christ through the Pope."

Which makes them papists -- in enough of a sense to call them all Roman Catholic.

All this talk of Roman rite and other rites are chiefly liturgical variances under the Roman bishop's papacy.

I guess I should have rephrased that word too, rather than put it in quotation marks...because even there in marking it up I wasn't trying to imply anything, being as it was acceptable use in context, to my own eyes anyway.
