Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Jobs In The Bible

Grinder

(New International Version (NIV)

Remember your Creator

    in the days of your youth,
before the days of trouble come
    and the years approach when you will say,
    “I find no pleasure in them”—
2 before the sun and the light
    and the moon and the stars grow dark,
    and the clouds return after the rain;
3 when the keepers of the house tremble,
    and the strong men stoop,
when the grinders cease because they are few,
    and those looking through the windows grow dim;
4 when the doors to the street are closed
    and the sound of grinding fades;
when people rise up at the sound of birds,
    but all their songs grow faint;

(Ecclesiastes 12)

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

While eating seeds and nuts is OK, the cultivation of grain necessitates that it be ground to a flour that can be cooked and eaten as bread or pasta. This was accomplished by placing the grain between two stones and grinding, grinding, grinding, until the seeds became a flour. In Biblical Times, the bottom stone was stationary and the upper stone, which was lighter, was moved around until the seeds were crushed. Most people did enough for their own family each day, but an enterprising individual could make a fortune by hooking up an ox to a grinding wheel and doing it for a price.

The Torah has at least two important laws regarding the Grinding of Grain. The first refers to moneylenders, who are NOT permitted to take a person's upper millstone as a pledge. This would impair the person's ability to produce food for herself.

The other Law was to "Not muzzle the ox when he is treading the corn". Whatever falls into the ox's path while he is working the mill should be available to him to eat.

These Laws were revolutionary in Ancient Times, showing unusual compassion, concern for the poor, and kindness to God's Creatures. We no longer grind our own corn in our homes, but the principles extrapolated from these Laws are relevant to this day.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

All Grace is our Good GOD, Amen. Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem, for the Nation Israel, for our Nation, for the persecuted among our brothers and sisters, for protection over those serving the needing and sick, for our families and friends.

Joining in prayer, left that other site, for all God’s people - especially those who are persecuted for His Name’s sake.

Prayers for Israel and our beloved America.

May we all be blessed by godly pastors and teachers - not neglect supporting them - and may our hearts be open to spark a revival.
