To break an addiction you get a new freakin hobby that consumes the time you spent being consumed.

Addictions are about the stories we tell ourselves.

Eventually they become the narrative andike a record in need of a new song, you’re gonna have to etch some new marks on the vinyl.

Catholic apologist used to have a porn problem, while he was, on the exterior, a very religious man.

When he became a Catholic, somebody gave him a rosary and he tossed it in a drawer. One day, he decided to trust God and say the rosary. About three weeks later, he realized that he had been porn-free since he had prayed the rosary and has been free from his addiction ever since.

Like the 12 Step people say: you need your Higher Power to overcome addiction.

Pray.

I do not believe people are victims of an addiction when they habitually watch porn. They LIKE porn, but they CAN turn away from it. Truth is, they don’t want to.

There are genuine addictions, but I don’t believe a fascination with pornography is one of them.

IMHO, adults who produce, watch, or participate in porn are scum, not victims.

It is nothing new, I had a phornagraf record in 1948 or 49, the first time I ever heard Hank Williams but I don`t remember anything disgusting about it.

Understand what sin is, it is not some abstract force, but it has power and wants to be served. Decide that you will not serve sin. Christ has made you dead to sin and alive to God in Christ. Romans 6

....sin is crouching at your door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.” Gen 4:6

“I will not serve sin!” “I serve God!” Decide...fight...rest in Jesus Christ. Give your sin to God and receive his power over sin and temptation to sin. Romans 6

Temptation comes as a thought, take those thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ immediately. Fight with the power of God that strengthens you to win. “I will not serve you sin!” Feed yourself with the word of God or you will not have the strength to fight long. Read Romans and both books of Corinthians asking Holy Spirit to teach you and transform you. Read them again.

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete. 2 Cor 10:3-6

Speak out loud when taking those thoughts captive to obey Christ, and take authority over demonic assignments against you, ie lust. “No I will not serve you sin, I serve Christ” “Jesus to you I turn, in you I have victory, you I serve Jesus.” Whispering is fine.

Put on the armor of God Eph 6. Key to Armor of God is verse 10 be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

You will win in Christ!

Men were made to be attracted to the female body. That is in our design. Like all good things, it can become perverted in our lives because of our sin nature. Romans 6-7 deal with this.

After we are saved, acknowledging God...renouncing our sins in repentance...and accepting Jesus (God's) sacrifice for our sins, sin no longer has dominion over us. However we quickly learn that we are still tempted by sin, even though it no longer rules us. The difference is that now we have the power through God's spirit to mortify our flesh.

Until Jesus comes back in our death or Rapture, we will still be tempted by sin, however Love of God and love of our families can keep us from the sin of pornography and adultry. The worst thing to do is give up and give in... Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound ? 2 God forbid . How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein ? 3 Know ye not , that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. ....

"Addiction" is the wrong word.

When someone is ADDICTED to something, like heroin, then stops the heroin, he gets SICK! THAT is addiction.

People MISuse "addiction" WAY too much.

One does NOT get addicted to tobacco, coffee or porn. They are HABIT FORMING and can be stopped with no ill effects because one won't get SICK with the cessation of HABIT FORMING behavior.

I suggest reading the New Testament for one hour or two half hours a day....seriously. In about a month of truly ingesting the word of God I believe that person will start to find pornography repulsive and as he resists the temptation ...the demons will flee from him. That’s a fact!

I am female, and do not understand that addiction, but every sin/temptation known to man can be cured by the Holy Spirit. I have seen it too many times...but it takes commitment to seek the WORD daily....to allow God to take control and the Bible is a living word not just a book.
