Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Jobs In The Bible

Athlete

New International Version (NIV)

5 Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules.(2 Timothy 2:5)

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
(1Corinthians 9:24-27)

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The occupation of both Greece and Rome made Judea a center for "professional sports". Arenas, Racetracks, and Stadiums were prominent throughout the Ancient known world. Although the very pious Jews of the time were not happy with this arrangement, it was the atmosphere in which the Apostle Paul was raised, and the metaphor of the Professional Athlete was one that both Jews and Gentiles would recognize.

Athletes trained rigorously, but their trophies were made of leaves, and so perished quickly. It was a reminder that fame, youth, and vigor are fleeting.
Paul admonishes us to put that same energy into a prize that does NOT perish, Eternal Life!

As we look at the scandals involving professional athletes in our own time, we see people "getting away with" horrible acts, merely because they are "Sports Heroes". But their crown is very perishable, and eventually, all are exposed for their wickedness. Especially when there are survellience cameras EVERYWHERE!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

All sin, we are invited to repent in truth, turning from our former way, to the washing of us clean of our sins, salvation, and looking to the LORD to build us up in the image of our LORD, one day at a time as long as we are on earth, being willing and committed to serve and love the LORD, in Jesus name amen.

Today many seem to think/believe it is a one time act requiring nothing but ascent of Jesus Christ as our Lord. God is not mocked. We are ever to become in the image of our Lord. Thank Thee Father, teach us the path we are to walk in sincerity and faith, THANK THEE LORD, FOR THY LOVE, GRACE, MERCY, LOVING kindness, GOODNESS, in Jesus name, amen.

Prayers for the Peace of Israel, Jerusalem, and for all seeking to know and serve God in Jesus name amen.

PRAISE GOD!
