We are fast approaching those last days.
I believe there might be a third possibility that “times of the gentiles” could refer to, from this passage in Rev. 11:
“1 I was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, with its worshipers.
2 But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months.”
So that 42 month period, however we should interpret it, could be the “times of the gentiles”. The language about Jerusalem being “trodden down” and the gentiles “trampling on the holy city” is very close. Verse 8 also seems to confirm this city is Jerusalem:
“8Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great citywhich is figuratively called Sodom and Egyptwhere also their Lord was crucified.”
