Let Us Pray for This Country and Its People

Posted on 07/06/2014 4:49:40 PM PDT by Fester Chugabrew

A: Let us pray for this country and its people, that God would save us from violence, discord, arrogance, and every evil course of action, but would bless this land with honest industry, truthful education, an honorable way of life, and a wise exercise of liberty:

P: O Almighty God, You have given this good land as our earthly heritage. Grant that we, who came from many nations with many different languages, become a united people. May we always remember Your generosity and constantly do Your will, choosing trustworthy leaders, contributing to wise decisions for the general welfare, and serving You faithfully in our generation. Give to those entrusted with the authority of government the spirit of wisdom, that there may be justice and peace in the land. When times are prosperous, make us thankful, and in troubled times do not let our trust in You fail, as we always look forward to your heavenly kingdom, our eternal country and heritage, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Re: Truthful education

God gave us agency and with freely made choices come natural consequences. I see very unpleasant consequences coming to our nation. Why?

1) Millions of Christians can show up to buy a chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A but can't seem to figure out how to peacefully end abortion. Really?

2) As I drive through red states of this nation I see the government's GODLESS K-12 single payer schools stuffed full to the brim with children of so-called Christians and conservatives. While in these godless indoctrination camps the children **will** learn to think and reason godlessly. They must just to cooperated in the godless classroom. How could it be otherwise? Yet...Day after school day these school remain open because Christians and conservatives treasure the free babysitting more than than the eternal souls of their children.

Will God save this nation or will there be “millstone” consequences given how much Christians and conservatives care about kids.

Amen to the prayer, but I agree with you. I’ve also posted vanities, asking for prayer and for repentance, but even here on FR things have changed. No one really responds favorably. You might get one or two people to even read it.

What I see is that even though we say we want to change this behemoth of a government, we lack the will to elect people who have promised to do so, electing, instead, those who keep on the same track because we’re sold the lie that a newbie can’t win in November, only the crafty old devil can. Same old, same old. We talk of a 3rd party, but no one really wants to do it now. If not now, when? This is the sign of weak-willed, slovenly people who are more interested in their own comfort and leisure time. While I was encouraged to see America, and felt that there really is still a lot to be grateful for and it’s still not too late to do something, I feel that the everyday headlines sideline the most of people...they get into the glass half mode and do nothing but complain. We are like the people of Laodicea in Revelation, where God said He would spew them out of His mouth because they were neither hot nor cold.

Politics is not going to save us. Prayer can. God will, if we ask, but if we are arrogant enough to think HE owes us something, we’ll quickly find out that He will sit back and let us go to the brink. I think we believers really should start repenting of the sins of the nation...abortion, adultery, homosexuality, license, idolatry...we’d better start there... and so on. If we are unwilling, the lost will never see their need.

We need to repent of sending our children into godless schools where they **will** learn to think and reason godlessly. They must just to cooperate in the godless classroom.

I see absolutely no evidence of that happening. The godless government schools across the nation in red states and red counties are stuffed full to the brim with children of Christians and conservatives.

God gave us agency. With freely made choices come natural consequences. Those consequences won’t be good.
