Who is ISIS or Isis? Quite a coincidence is this acronym. During the Egyptian Spring I drew many conclusions that indicated the muslims of this southern kingdom would play an important role in the nearing end times.
I submit to this group that the many interpretations of just who the Great Harlot or Whore are may be grossly incorrect and we have been looking in the wrong places. It is not America, nor is it Rome or the Catholic Church. But this harlot who is clothed in red & purple, riding the beast is the caliphate we see forming in front of us.
Alexander Hislop shows, in his book entitled, “The Two Babylons”, Isis is the Egyptian name for the Babylonian goddess Ishtar, who is also the same as Athena (Greece), Minerva (Egypt and Greece), Astarte (Syria), Cybele (Rome), Ashtoreth (Israel), and Diana (Ephesus).
That is a very powerful book. It shows some very uncomfortable facts for those of the Catholic faith and mainstream Christianity.
Interesting observations. Worth considering.
I do think this has its place in prophesy.
I think you could make just as good an argument that ISIS is the Red Horse (war) to be followed by the black horse (famine) to be followed by the pale horse (death and damnation)
The first verse of that book should suffice to correct many misconceptions. It tells us - just as it told the original recipients - the timeframe in which the events described would occur.
I could accept your theory as a hypothetical if ISIS were not actually called ISIL.
Also - don’t diss Athena. It is only marginally safer than upsetting Artemis.

I grew up loving Egyptian art, and spent many happy hours sketching in the Egyptian Gallery of the MFA in Boston. I am also a Christian and an avid student of the Bible.
As soon as the “ISIS” acronym hit the news, I made the connection. I can’t even scroll through the News/Activism threads on FR without the image of Isis popping into my head.
Isis/Astarte/Ashera/Artemis/Diana has been the construct of the “adversary” all the way back to the Book of Genesis. She pops up to tempt Joseph, to lure the Hebrews back into the House of Slavery, to corrupt the Israelites in the Promised Land, to ruin King Solomon’s Relationship with God, and to drive the Israelites into Exile in Babylon. She manages to get Paul incarcerated and beaten in Ephesus, and does much to harm the early Church.
I don’t think that the muslim fanatics who named themselves thought about Isis when they put their name together.
But you can bet the farm that Ol’ Scratch knew what he was doing.
(Incidentally, Saddam’s Nuclear reactor that was destroyed by the Israelis was named “Osirik”. “Osiris” was The Consort of Isis, and was killed and dismembered by Seth. Much of the Isis/Osiris narrative concerns Isis’ search for all of Osiris’ missing parts and mating with his mummified remains to produce a child named “Horus”. The symbol of Horus is the All-Seeing Eye portrayed on our dollar bill and is a favorite symbol of “the Illuminati”. It will be interesting to see if any acronyms pop up that spell a variant of “Horus”. Stay Tuned....)

I understand that ISIL and ISIS are two different (but related) organizations.
I am not saying he is totally correct, just pointing out that Isis is an interpretation and not a totally new concepts.
Other authors also point to the idea that Mary is a reincarnation of Isis. Isis has sex with the dead god Osiris... and it considered a dark goddess and duality as a mother goddess.
While the Catholic Church teaches that Mary is the New Eve and a mother of life (Jesus).

Well, Athena is not the same as Diana—Athena/Minerva is the goddess of wisdom/war and Diana/Artemis is goddess of the hunt/moon….but I take you point...
Yes, when I saw ISIS I also thought the same thing. I have always thought that th End Times would find more literal fulfillment of Revalation than most scholars assert…that there would probably be a literal “whore” , etc.
The author’s point is well made in that Isis has many names and powers. She is known as the goddess of 1000 names. And if one knows anything about pagan religions, she is still worshipped today...
