It isn’t wise to ignore commies in our midst. We can see quite clearly where that has gotten us.

Economics does indeed have a moral dimension. We call it charity which is not the same as redistribution.

Neither an outright dole nor pseudo-earned income from a make-work job satisfies. And a job can only be make-work
unless it is supervised by someone who has a stake in both the cost of the pay, and the productivity of the work. And that is difficult for the government to achieve in the best of circumstances - and impossible when giving Joe a job is the actual mission.
