Well, you are describing the ‘filioque’ disagreement, which has been been settled, from what I hear. I could be a bit behind the times (a millennium?). I thought this was the brouhaha that caused the split between the Latin and Eastern Churches. A more esoteric (and inconsequential) issue would be tough to find...
