the unprecedented rush to canonize

Nine years is a "rush"? That's a slow pace for an individual who was so universally known throughout the Church during his lifetime, and whose cause was reviewed at a time when information can be replicated and distributed instantaneously.

Many saints have been canonized faster than this, back in times when relaying information accurately took months or even years.

Plus also many saints in the early centuries of the Church were declared saints even after a shorter time.
