REGINA, Saskatchewan, April 11, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A prominent U.S. pro-family activist was detained by the Canadian Border Services Agency Thursday for alleged violations of Canada’s “hate propaganda” l

Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality, had flown into Regina International Airport to speak at the Saskatchewan Pro-Life Association provincial conference this weekend.

LaBarbera had been targeted by a makeshift group known as “Intolerance Free Weyburn,” which pressured the government to deny him access to the country. LaBarbera believes he was flagged by customs as a result.

LaBarbera provided LifeSiteNews with a formal document issued by CBSA agent Darren Banick that cites section 319(1) of Canada’s Criminal Code and says Banick believed LaBarbera "may commit acts which would be against the Criminal Code of Canada."

We are in a similar fight as you are.

Even though we may not personally live to see it, through God, we'll win.

Let’s start with 1812. I know a few folks think Americans defended themselves when in fact it was American warhawks high on their revolution win, that went on the offensive.

More recently, WWI, WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Cold War, Afghan etc, we’ve been allies and very good ones at that.

I am in Alberta, and we can’t stand it so much, we want out of the country.

A lot of us are way overtaxed, no freedom of expression (speech) and our gun rights are draconian, though we can own them etc, the rules and hoops you jump through are crazy, and you can’t carry in public.

American-Canadian Wars
  1. The War of the League of Augsburg (King William's War) 1689-1697

  2. The War of the Spanish Succession (Queen Anne's War) 1701-1714

  3. The War of the Austrian Succession (King George's War) 1740-1748

  4. The Third Silesian War (The French & Indian War) 1754-1763

  5. The War of the American Revolution 1775-1783

  6. The War of 1812 1812-1815
Of course, in four of those wars, we were English and Canada was French, and in the last two, Canada was still English. There have been no wars between an independent Canada and the US.

“may commit acts which would be against the Criminal Code of Canada.” This is called “prior restraint” and is unconstitutional in the U.S. “...customs agent went through his luggage, his phone and laptop, and played a DVD of a speech he had given Wednesday. Also ILLEGAL! asked for details about the talk he was scheduled to give. Also ILLEGAL!
Yes, it's absolutely illegal here in the USA...but this happened in Canada. Prior restraint is absolutely legal in Canada. And customs there can ask what they feel like and go through your stuff.

I'm not saying it's right, but know the laws of where you're going. Constitutional freedoms DO NOT APPLY outside of the USA.

Ya ...I got that...

It WAS the POINT of my post!

Wonder how it is that Canada doesn’t afford those same basic protections?

No, I know why they don't offer those same basic protections. They don't have a Bill of Rights and their constitution is not set in stone like ours is, consisting of various parliamentary acts
