The mormon church historically has mainly ignored the recognition of Easter, and has not had Good Friday services nor an Easter service unless Easter happened to fall on Sunday.

The emphasis of mormonism in the Spring has been instead April 6, 1830: The Day the Church Was Organized

The organizing of just any church may or may not be an important event, for many dozens of churches have made their appearance in the United States over the last century and a half, but the reestablishment and formal organization of God’s true church upon the earth is a happening of such vital significance and vast meaning that it should excite the interest of every human being in this day and time.

This new mormon marketing campaign of Easter is, as noted in the article above, rather than meant for the worship of the Savior and the Resurrection, an attempt to build the membership of the mormon church.

“... focusing on the hope, healing, and salvation made possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ”

Is this the real Christ or the guy they refer to as “Jesus Christ” that in the Book of Mormon burned and buried multitudes??

Poor Mormons. The better ones really want to be Evangelical Christians, but most Mormons probably never give it a thought, although they are told during their missionary year that they should cover up the Mormon specific aspect and just present it as Protestantism when they’re trying to make converts. Meanwhile, the polygamy cult crowd is off in its own space.

Mormonism is indefensible from any point of view, because, like Islam, it’s a bizarre “prophet” centric cult that arose in a time and place where orthodox Christianity was very weak. So the “good” Mormons are trying to co-opt Christmas and Easter in order to make themselves feel orthodox and accepted.

There should be serious Catholic and Evangelical outreach to Mormons.

an attempt to build the membership of the mormon church.

And confuse others who don't know much about Mormonism, duping them into thinking they are Christians.

Let them have Easter. It’s not a biblical celebration anyway.

False. As long as I've been alive the LDS Church has had an Easter program on Easter. I'm fairly certain that has been the case before I was born too...

, and has not had Good Friday services

No we don't have services on Good Friday, but we do recognize Good Friday.

nor an Easter service unless Easter happened to fall on Sunday.

False again. Always have Easter service, and Easter is always on Sunday....

I went to Sunday Easter services at a mormon church one time. No change in program from when I went to a regular mormon service several years before.

The difference is, when everyone broke up for class after the service, all they talked about was when Jesus would return and they all go to Jackson County MO.

Beginning Palm Sunday, April 13, 2014, and running through Easter, April 20, the Church is launching an Easter initiative called “Because of Him,” focusing on the hope, healing, and salvation made possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

Sure SOUNDS good; but just what does MormonISM consider to actually BE 'the atonement'?
