Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

One of my favorite things I remember from my childhood is the aroma that came forth when Mom opened the Cedar Chest. In the chest were wonderful things; my Dad's WW2 Navy Uniforms, Mom's Wedding Outfit, and lots of childhood mementos. The smell of Cedar still brings forth these memories. Mom told me that the items were safe from moths and bugs in the Cedar Chest, and everything in the chest would stay new and refreshed.

This Passage from Leviticus is the procedure for cleansing a house in which a frightening contagious disease had been present. The Hyssop and Cedar are natural cleansing and purification elements, while the shedding of blood addresses the spiritual aspects of the disease.

Cedar is mentioned so many times in the Bible, that we will spend a few days on this particular plant.
