NOSTRA AETATE

 

Declaration of the Second Vatican Council on the Relation of the Church to Non-Christian religions. It is addressed to Christians and urges them to promote fellowship with persons and groups who do not profess the Christian faith. Singled out are tribal peoples, Hindus, Buddhists, Moslems, and Jews. The principal theme is that Catholics should "enter with prudence and charity into discussion and collaboration with members of other religions."
