I don’t like most of the appointments either. One of the other countries that has always been a backbone of the Church, Spain, also got nobody except a very elderly, nonvoting retired bishop. It’s lovely to have more Third World Cardinals, but I don’t think he needed to exclude the others. Chaput should have been made a cardinal, but I think he’s probably too conservative for the Vatican right now. It’s a pity, Francis could’ve appointed the first North American Indian cardinal.

I’m sorry, I don’t think its lovely, as those 3rd world cardinals will vote for a socialist Pope the next time around. Nothing good can come of this. What was primarily a European Christian religion (although it started in the Middle East initially, but from thereon it was European for over a thousand years) will become a watered down, politically correct non-European based wishy washy third world religion. It is my worst fear, and not an unfounded one.
