Wow. It is a shame that a once great organization has fallen so far. I was a Scout, Cub and Boy. I have lots of fond memories of my times in the Scouts.

Unfortunately, they lost their way and it is about the money and not the kids. Sad.

Yes, companies I worked for made it mandatory to donate to the United Way which in turn funded the Boy Scouts. Border line extortion and definitely a “money machine.”

My company wanted 100% participation too.

About 20 years ago I refused to contribute. My poor boss was also a good friend of mine. She pleaded for me to donate one dollar and I refused to do it.

I wrote a check to a local Boy’s Club and mailed it right away. The Club got 100% of my donation.
