Just because someone holds themselves to a higher standard does not mean they will always achieve it.

The difference is, when they fail they don’t say it’s because there is something wrong with the standard.

They admit when they fail that it is because they are sinners.

Actually last numbers I saw showed the incident was actually lower among priests, but reality doesn’t get in the way of anything that can be used to undermine a source of authority that is higher than the government.

Your position seems to be that the Catholic Church is bad because Catholic priests are ordinary human beings.

What is your point? That only super-humans should be priests?

>>Where in the Bible is the priesthood not all male?<<

A better question is, where in the New Testament is the priesthood?

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Did you notice it was Peter who said that ALL believers are priests.

the word “mia” means “only one”.

However, just use “one”. That’s ok.

The passage still says the “husband of one wife” as opposed to many wives. IOW, a bishop can’t be a polygamist.

He can also be single. Paul was single. Paul recommended singleness in his day.

My only point is priests, preachers, ministers etc. are held to a higher moral standard than laypeople....they are the leaders of the church and when they stray it reflects heavier on the church. Why do you think all these headlines come out when a Jim Baker is caught embezzling or Jimmy Swaggart is caught with a prostitute. If they were just members very few would have heard about it! and when they get caught it just leads credence to the “well they’re all a bunch of hypocrites” crowd. they’re the face of the church and they should act so!!!

So you’re complaining about something about which nothing can be done unless the Church engages in “pre-crime” minority reports?

Actually is occurs the least with priests.
In order:
Relatives — someone who knows the child
Teachers
Coaches
Protestant Ministers
Then Priests are way down on the list.

You have been posting "the list" for quite some time, here is one of your other versions of your "list", where you go after fathers.
"The most probable pedophiles in order are:
Fathers
Teachers
Coaches
Protestant ministers
Priests are way down on the list.

I would like to see this infamous list at it's source and it seems like you should be required to post it.

So your "obvious truth" is that we should not allow men who might not live up to the "higher plane" to which they aspire to be priests?

>>the word “mia” means “only one”.<<

Well, you can take that up with Strong, Thayer, NASEC etc. According to them there is no “only” in there.

Original Word: εἷς, μία, ἕν
Short Definition: one
Definition: one.

That version (μιᾶς) of the word is used 8 times in the New Testament and not once is there an indication from Strong, Thayer, NASEC or any other I can find of the inclusion of either “only” or “but”. Take your issue up with them. Perhaps you are more of an expert then they are. They would appreciate the input I’m sure.

Aren't most Catholic priests called Fathers? That'd put them at #1 spot. Also I see a lot of lowering the bar . . like priests are just ordinary people (no higher moral standard) and the Pope isn't "impeccable" (he can lie like a dog when he's not speaking "Ex Cathedra" for some reason).
