This is what Thanksgiving is all about!
Thank you, Abraham Lincoln.
Great words by a great man. Don’t expect any lefty to repeat that proclamation today because it has the word God in it and we know how those three letters drive them crazy.
Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the fishs belly. And he said:
I cried out to the Lord because of my affliction,
And He answered me.
Out of the belly of Sheol I cried,
And You heard my voice.
For You cast me into the deep,
Into the heart of the seas,
And the floods surrounded me;
All Your billows and Your waves passed over me.
Then I said, I have been cast out of Your sight;
Yet I will look again toward Your holy temple.
The waters surrounded me, even to my soul;
The deep closed around me;
Weeds were wrapped around my head.
I went down to the moorings of the mountains;
The earth with its bars closed behind me forever;
Yet You have brought up my life from the pit,
O Lord, my God.
When my soul fainted within me,
I remembered the Lord;
And my prayer went up to You,
Into Your holy temple.
Those who regard worthless idols
Forsake their own Mercy.
But I will sacrifice to You
With the voice of thanksgiving;
I will pay what I have vowed.
Salvation is of the Lord.
So the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.
Jonah 2
Thanks, mlizzy! Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Day
I haven’t checked out the Thanksgiving Proclamation by Lincoln-yet—IT was made Oct.3,1863-—I see much of this reflected in the March 30 ,1863 Presidential proclamation for a National Day of Fasting,Humiliation and Prayer—while I have seen evidence that Lincoln repeated the line about it being written in Scripture and proven by history that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord.-thus he may have repeated the idea that we have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven....But we have forgotten God... Intoxicated by unbroken success we have become so self sufficient that we no longer feel the need of redeeming and preserving grace ,too proud to pray to the God that made us.(seen in the March 30,1863 proclamation.)
I have seen the Lincoln Proclamation made Oct.3,1863 from the National Archives.And sadly the paper you have posted seems to not compare. Great words— but in March of 1863 —on the 30th Day Lincoln proclaimed a National Day of Humiliation Fasting and Prayer-as requested by the Senate. Then in Oct. the President gave his Thanksgiving Day Proclamation again at the request of Congress.The enemy of my Country will use anything to discredit the Patriot so we must be careful to check and verify whatever we post as history .
