These idiots — and one cheat — happened to be Mormon...belonging to the Mormon church.

Well, gosh, what do we need News/Activism for? We’ll just determine the religion of the perps for each story and post them here on the religion forum.
I guess what I am asking is what role does the religion of the perp play in this story?
Should we start posting, say, stories about drunk drivers here on the religion once we discover that they are evangelical? Pot busts if they are Protestant? Passing bad checks if they are Catholic?
Go back to the story:
Here, I'll highlight it for you:
...leadership of the Utah National Parks Council, the Boy Scouts local chapter, consulted with leadership of the chartering organization for the mens unit The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints...
The chartering org for this Boy Scout group in question was the Mormon church. They chose these leaders; it was their discernment -- or lack of it -- that put them into these leadership roles.
Secondly, the source itself for the article is a religious institution -- BYU.
Thirdly, the driver who hit this Boy Scout leader in question was a student at BYU, a religious institution.
Fourthly, if you go to the original link within the article, you can read the last quote from this now ex-Boy Scout as to who he apologized to: It's a six-letter word that starts with "c-h- "
(Last I knew, these institutions were deemed by society as "religious"...Do I have to conduct your reading of these articles for you, DMZ? Why do you have to have these details obvious within the article spelled out to you?)
Yes...especially if these churches have placed such individuals in leadership roles representing the churches or auxiliary groups within the church.
And that's what we have here.
