Listen, I appreciate the concept, but this constant re-interpretation of what JP II said, or Benedict said, or what Burke said, is wrongheaded and foolish.

Excommunication of an obstinate and persistent heretic, or in the case of Pelosi a heresiarch, is both a public act and a public obligation. This nonsense that "she's excommunicated herself" allows her heresy to thrive and to multiply.

Many Catholics, my dear late grandfather among them, have been publicly excommunicated by the relevant authority, in his case by the Bishop of Hartford.

The Archbishop of San Francisco is in this case the relevant authority. Every time this lying spawn of Satan opens her mouth and says she is a "faithful and devout Catholic", or that "abortion is sacred ground" he should be having a press conference, announcing that she has been excommunicated and that her lies threaten her soul with the pit, as well as the souls of any Catholics who vote for her, who fellowship with her, or who "follow" her heresies and thereby conform their consciences to evil.

A distinction should be made.

Excommunication is a “penalty.” There are certain acts by which a person can “excommunicate himself.” More precisely, there are acts which Canon Law punishes with excommunication “automatically,” such as physically attacking the Pope and direct involvement in a completed abortion.

Denial of Holy Communion, which is mandated by Canon 915, is NOT a penalty. Cardinal Wuerl, among his several misleading statements on the matter, has referred to Denial of Holy Communion as a “penalty.”

What this means, practically, is that Cardinal Wuerl reserves to himself the option of whether to impose this “penalty” on people like Pelosi.

But Wuerl does NOT have this option, because Denial of Holy Communion is MANDATED by divine law, expressed in Canon 915. By refusing to deny Communion to people like Pelosi, who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin, Wuerl is himself obstinately persisting in direct disobedience to an UNCONDITIONAL MANDATE in Canon Law.

It is long past time, having corrected Wuerl regarding his persistence in disobedience to Canon Law, and having corrected some of Wuerl’s misleading, evasive statements on the matter, for Cardinal Burke and the Pope to ACT.

It is unfortunate that Cardinal Burke allowed himself to be elevated to the College of Cardinals AT THE VERY SAME MASS with Cardinal Wuerl. The message sent was that Cardinal Burke’s repeated statements on the issue of Canon 915 were merely academic.

It is time for definite, active disciplinary measures against Wuerl and other bishops like him.
