Syria; This Senator gets it Posted on August 30, 2013 by billrandles I am distributing this article far and wide to let people know why I had to do an unprecedented (for me) thing, I tried to talk a young man out of going into the US Military. As a patriotic American, I have always rightly regarded the military of the United States as a force for good. But this Commander in Chief has put our troops to the service of Al Queda, and I wouldnt want to either shed one drop of blood for them, nor would I want to shed anyone elses blood to further the cause of Al Queda, the Muslim Brotherhood, or Sharia. Young people need to consider this long and hard, for there is coming a day of judgment. The US helped AL Queda in Bosnia and Syria, we fought in Iraq, and the result was Sharia, and the persecution of Christians, Obama is manifestly on the side of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and Syria. This is serious stuff! I dont believe in My country, right or wrong!.
Rand Paul on Syria: I cant see sending my son to fight on the same side as al Qaeda

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., sharply opposed American military action in Syria on Fox News Thursday night, demanding that President Obama get congressional approval should he choose to act.
Without question Congress should vote on this and he is going against the Constitution and it will be an unlawful act if he actually takes military action without having Congress vote on the issue, Paul explained, reminding Americans that the separation of powers intended by the founders was to prevent the United States from going to war for emotional reasons.
Paul said that Obama would probably decide against a Congressional vote to avoid a similar defeat as David Cameron did in British Parlimant.
They wont risk a vote because they are worried that they could be defeated, he said. It happened in the British Parliament the American people are not excited about a new war.
Paul also explained that he had difficulty seeing any American interests in the Syrian conflict.
I cant see fighting to impose Sharia law in Syria, Paul said. I cant see sending my son to fight with Islamic rebels against Christians. I also cant see my son going to fight on the same side as al Qaeda.
Under Sharia law, Paul noted, Christians would be persecuted for blasphemy, citing a woman in Pakistan who was jailed for blasphemy after she drank from a cup shared by Muslim workers.
That is not something I want to send our boys and girls to die for, Paul added.
obama would save some face if he went to Congress. Then he can say, the blood be on you /Pilate
It may be his only option.
Obama'sBush's Syria plans in disarray after Britain rejects use of force
Lying hypocritical bastards. democRATS suck.
Only if Congress votes approval, which is iffy. On the other hand, suppose this operation goes bad, and some assets are lost--maybe to an anti-ship missile. Then, he will lose even more face than if he had gone to Congress in the first place.
What I meant was, Congress will NOT approve, and thereby obama will save face. Obama’s on record saying chemical warfare is the line in the sand. Therefore he either has to send troops or find someone to blame when we don’t send them.
And you just know he doesn’t want to send them, because that would be putting them in harm’s way. That’s the Panetta Doctrine!
His ego would not allow that.
Why, for the sake of God's green (not al's version) earth, is this not being screamed at the top of their lungs by Boehner, McConnell ... or any GOP member of either house of Congress!
...great question, but you prolly already know the answer.

My lib friends and acqaintences always look like they want to hide or, alternatively, like they want to shoot me........
Hi, Bill. I agree with Rand Paul up to a point.
I certainly don’t want to advance the cause of Al Qaeda.
But, I have no problem with identifying and destroying any stockpiles of chemical/biological weapons.
We would need to identify said stockpiles, and we’d have to run an operation to take them out.
That would not benefit either al Qaeda or assad. In fact, it would injure them and deprive both of them of access to such weapons.
It need be only a retaliatory strike. I don’t care anything about repairing any damage to Syria after said attacks.
AND, I think it serves a security objective of the USA.
So, Assad al Qaeda, I’m hawkish in my isolationism. Threaten me in any way, and I’m in favor of cutting you off at the knees.
How so?
I agree with you but offer two counterpoints;
1) Our CIC consistently sides with the Muslim Brotherhood, I think his real “Redline” is when they are in trouble. We have literally advantaged the MB in Egypt and Libya, and In Iraq, our troops were sent to avenge 9-11,(I would support that), but with “mission creep” they bled and died to erect a Sharia nation? This is an outrage! So too Afghanistan! God help us!
2) These are the very hypocrites who fried George Bush for going into Iraq for the same reason,(WMDs), in fact these may be the very WMDs that they fried Bush for not finding.
but in the final analysis, I am all about a foreign policy whch serves Americas interests, cutting of the vicious terrorists at the knees wherever possible, I just don’t have confidence on this dangerous and irresponsible, and unaccountable CIC.
ps thank you for your service.
This is either being done so Obama doesn’t look so leaderless to the world after drawing his red line in the sand like a petulant child; or he’s doing it because he really believes in Sharia law and that goes back to the original concern about him: does it matter that he is a Muslim. Apparently it may.
Destroying Syria’s chemical/biological weapons stocks serves the US security interest by depriving that enemy of that weapons system.
First, it prevents the possibility of micro-delivery systems being brought by individual terrorists to the USA and being used in some large crowd venue.
Second, it denies access to such weaponry in any potential conflict with US allies such as Israel.
I want neither Assad nor Al Qaeda to have those weapons.
Amen!!!!
If Obama launches a bunch of weapons of mass destruction, I.e., cruise missiles, this will give Putin the opportunity to test the resolve of Obama. Strategically I could see him launching a strike against one of our submarines or cruisers that launched the missiles and then threatening a tactical nuclear strike if Obama tries to retaliate.
The fact is that neither Russia or China or Iran are the least bit afraid of what Obama would do if backed into a corner.
You will note I am using the term “Obama” rather than the United States because I do not consider the acts of Obama to be the acts of the United States. Unfortunately a lot of brave Americans may be killed if Obama overplays his hand.
My intention is simply to describe what I believe to be a national security issue in this Syrian affair. While I agree with those who have no confidence in Obama to do anything well, right, or for the right motives, I still think destroying Syria’s WMDs, chemical and biological, to be in the US security interest. It will deny those weapons to both Assad and Al Qaeda.
This is the exact same reason I supported the initial effort into Iraq by President GW Bush, I still think it was a right motive, and personally, I think those WMDs, for the most part, were moved.
Even at that time, I didn’t want to nation build in Iraq. I was fine with kicking ass, breaking things, and deposing a government. The same with Afghanistan. Whereas, Pres GW Bush did nothing illegal pushing for a policy of nation-building, it was a doomed policy from the beginning, because Islam is NOT a religion of peace.
So, for Syria, I would locate their WMDs, destroy them, destroy whatever I could of those capable of producing more, and then I’d leave with fire and smoke lighting the sky.
Syria can rebuild itself.
